Since 1957, JCI St. Paul has invited high school students from the area (grades 9-12) to submit original artwork for the show. It is one of the only non-school sponsored art events, allowing students to compete against their peers and gain exposure and recognition in the community. Last year, over 850 original art pieces were submitted for consideration. We expect even more will be entered in this year’s competition!
Of the large number of entered pieces, the best 100 will be selected for the exhibit by three jurors from the local art community. Students will be honored with award certificates and several carefully selected artists will receive cash scholarships provided by the Saint Paul Jaycees Charitable Foundation. Since the inaugural year of the show, $170,000 has been awarded to young artists, making higher education more accessible for thousands of students in the Twin Cities.
