It’s the beginning of the year, which means we are starting to look forward to the Les Farrington Best 100 Juried Art Show, one of our favorite annual events! Since 1957, JCI St. Paul has invited high school students from the area (grades 9-12) to submit original artwork for the show. It is one of the only non-school sponsored art events, allowing students to compete against their peers and gain exposure and recognition in the community. Last year, over 850 original art pieces were submitted for consideration. We expect even more will be entered in this year’s competition!
Of the large number of entered pieces, the best 100 will be selected for the exhibit by three jurors from the local art community. Students will be honored with award certificates and several carefully selected artists will receive cash scholarships provided by the Saint Paul Jaycees Charitable Foundation. Since the inaugural year of the show, $170,000 has been awarded to young artists, making higher education more accessible for thousands of students in the Twin Cities.
Judging Day will be held on February 23rd at AZ Gallery. Awards Night and the Gallery Opening will be on February 28th from 5:30-9:00 p.m. at Black Dog Cafe in Lowertown St. Paul.
The Les Farrington Best 100 Juried Art Show will be on display to the public at the AZ Gallery in Lowertown St. Paul from March 1st to March 23, 2019. We encourage you to check out these young artists’ amazing artwork!
