As the Thanksgiving holiday rounds the corner, it is important to look at and reflect on the year behind us. This past year has seen much change and devastation to our great land. We have witnessed natural disasters, mass violence, and a changing of political circles. Yet, with everything that occurs around us, there is so much for which to be thankful for. JCI St. Paul is at the forefront of bringing hope and thanks back into the country, and we would like to reflect for a moment on all the good that we have seen and helped others to achieve.

Giving Back Where It Matters

Most of the members of JCI St. Paul are young professional adults, aiming to make a difference in their inner and outer circles. As a result, the number of people who are eager to help is abundant in our community. We have made journeys to help those affected by hurricanes in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. Our hands-on approach to community service has allowed us to get our hands dirty while helping these communities find relief from these disasters and return to some semblance of normality. The reality is that we are grateful to be in a position to help people move on with their lives and escape from these horrific ordeals.

Growing Professionally

In addition to being thankful that we are able to help, we must be thankful for being able to grow in our own way. Each of us involved with JCI St. Paul works hard as professionals in our respective fields. Most of us are fairly young in business and are building our own circles of influence through business networking, fundraising, and joining organizations that get us out in the community. We are thankful for the opportunity to grow as professionals and as members of our business community. We are grateful that we are able to use our community service as a way to grow both personally and professionally. We have learned the importance of giving back to those less fortunate in order to help the community grow together. The truth is, each member of the JCI St. Paul chapter is in the unique position to grow a community of selfless people, and work together towards a common goal. The more we give back to those who are our friends in need, the more we will feel joy and a sense of accomplishment. In essence, this is the best reason to be thankful.

This year, as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving with our friends and family, we will be grateful that we have a true story of thanks to share. We look forward to continuing our journey with JCI St. Paul and helping others find their reason to be thankful throughout the upcoming year.
